Students who wish to be considered for the Joseph E. Lockridge Scholarship must meet certain criteria as determined by the Scholarship Foundation. The scholarship will be sent directly to the school and is to be used for tuition, fees, books, and room and board at an accredited 2-year institution, 4-year institution or Technical Institution in the United States. If the scholarship recipient receives a full scholarship for tuition, fees, books, room and board from another source, the scholarship award becomes null and void and must be returned even if already paid to the school.

2) Applicant must be a Christian
3) Applicant must be a citizen of the United States
4) Applicant must submit a complete application package within the stated time frame

General Information

1) Application forms are accepted during an 8-week period ending the last business day of March
2) Student will be notified of scholarship award by June
3) Generally, scholarship presentation will be made to student(s) in June
4) Student must inform the Scholarship Foundation when he/she graduates and provide an address for future     contact

Applicants from the Golden Gate Baptist Church Family
1) At least one scholarship will be awarded annually to a student of the Golden Gate Baptist Church Family if the student meets the criteria listed in this document
2) Applicant will automatically by assessed 10 point

Eligibility Criteria

1) Applicant must be a high school senior or have a GED
2) Applicant must be a Christian
3) Applicant must be a citizen of the United States
4) Applicant must submit a complete application package within the stated time frame

3) Official transcript from high school (must include seal) /G.E.D. Certification GPA of at least 78 or 2.5
4) Certification that Graduation Requirements have been met (School Letterhead)
5) Demonstrate financial need (Must include the latest FILED tax return-2013 Tax Return, but no older than 2012 Tax Return)
6) Essay (Typed 300 to 500 words, double spaced) Topic: Creating Your Own Legacy: How will education help you to become a trailblazer like Joseph E. Lockridge?
7) Three letters of recommendation (e.g. school, pastor, employer, or well-known friend, etc)
8) Church Affiliation Letter on Church Letterhead (can be the recommendation letter from local church pastor or member)
NOTE: * ALL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS MUST BE INCLUDED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR AN AWARD

Selection Criteria

Applicant must:
1) Meet eligibility requirements
2) Have at least an overall GPA of 2.5 or 78
3) Demonstrate financial need (Must include the latest FILED tax return-2015 Tax Return, but no older than 2014 Tax Return)
4) Demonstrate depth of character, leadership, patriotism, seriousness of purpose
5) and service orientation
6) Submit an Essay
7) Achieve a weighted score of at least 35 points out of 60 to receive a scholarship given by screening committee
8) Be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited institution of higher learning or certification of completion of home schooling requirements as stated by the State of Texas

Additional Information
1) Must be enrolled as a full-time student with at least 12 semester hours
2) Must establish and maintain accumulative 2.5 GPA
3) Must submit proof of GPA each new semester
4) Must request scholarship funds by deadline each semester
Fall Semester no later than October 1st
Spring Semester no later than March 1st
5) Awards of $500 will be paid to the school in full upon receipt of an acceptance letter
6) Larger awards will be paid in equal increments with full payment no later than the second semester of the second year provided a cumulative GPA of 2.5 is maintained
Amount of award: $500-$5000
Number of payment of awards: Up to 4 equal payments
Application deadline: Last Business day of March @ 4:30pm
Notification of award By June 1
Financial Need Assessment Guidelines UPDATE
The Screening Committee will assess financial need using the 2014 or 2013 Federal Income Tax Return (1040, 1040EZ, 1040A or Schedule SE) of the family’s combined household income, including child support payments (this can be a separate document). If the 2014 or 2013 Tax Return is not available, then the applicant will not be considered as an applicant for the JEL Scholarship.

2) Under $50,000 income up to $5000 award
3) $50,001–$75,000 income up to $4,000 award
4) $75,001 -$100,000 income up to $3000 award
5) $100,001-$125,000 income up to $2000
6) Over $125,000 income up to $1,000 award

JEL GGMBC $10,000 VALEDICTORIAN SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is restricted to only active GGMBC graduating seniors. The scholarship will be awarded to the graduating senior with the highest overall GPA (minimum 3.0 to qualify, based on a 4.0 scale, weighted to include AP classes). The scholarship will be awarded annually, if there are qualified applicants. The scholarship will be paid out over four years.
Screening Committee

The Screening Committee will consist of members from a local high school or college to evaluate the application package. The committee will recommend to the Scholarship Foundation the names of recipients and amounts of scholarship based on the selection criteria and the Guidelines for Screening Applications.
